A Life Dedicated to Humanity Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi

Shri Mataji was born in Chindwara, India. Her parents were quite well educated, yet humble and generous in nature. This upbringing shaped the then young girl into a wise, powerful and dynamic woman.

On May 5th 1970, she found the key that would change the future of humanity for good. Shri Mataji developed Sahaja Yoga, a simple and spontaneous meditation technique that which could awaken and activate the dormant motherly energy kundalini within, the knowledge which has been known through the ancient sacred scriptures of India. The kundalini awakening was reserved in the past exclusively for only a few people. It was kept a secret, in order to preserve and protect this sacred knowledge.

Shri Mataji knew that this method of en mass realization and the experience of Self-Realization, this higher knowledge, had to be shared with the whole world. She knew that it was only through Self-realization, people could become their true selves. Thus, this awakened state would eventually lead an individual to further seek their own inner potential with regular meditation and experience a highly evolved human state. Now, this is completely available to everyone who has the desire to lead a spiritual life and wants to experience the actualization of self realization in their own being.

For the next 40 years, she travelled tirelessly across continents to sow the seeds of this infinite knowledge, thereby transforming people everywhere she went. Shri Mataji awakened the Kundalini in millions of people around the world. This is a revolution in spirituality.

Today Sahaja Yoga is the only unique Yoga which is offered for free in more than 100 countries worldwide. In many countries, Sahaja Yoga is recognized as a Universal Pure Religion, as it gently embodies the basics of all world religions into a simple meditation experience of self-discovery. Shri Mataji's discovery of Sahaja Yoga and the delivery of en mass Self Realization has not only brought about powerful inner transformation within her followers, but has also given a platform to millions to choose an evolved spiritual life of inner peace, harmony and a thoughtless state of mind.
Shri Mataji was nominated for the Nobel peace prize and received many international proclamations during her lifetime. In thousands of lectures she explained every tiny detail, every quality and principle within us. She described every aspect of this inner subtle system in these lectures.
I offer my deep gratitude to the teacher and founder of Sahaja yoga, Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi.
